December is here already!  I have a great selection of books to help you learn and celebrate all the exciting things in December. Be sure to check out the displays!

HOLIDAY SHOP/BOOK NOOK

December 7th the Holiday Shop/Book Nook is coming to Westbrook School! Get ready to look for some more great books that the PTA will be bringing.  As usual, because of the PTA's generosity, we'll have some new library books that I'll be able to select from the Book Nook. Thanks Westbrook PTA!!!

NEW COLLECTION FOR OUR LIBRARY!!!

Ms. Donegan and I applied for a grant from the West Milford Education Foundation and we won!  We are adding to our library collection with Audio Books! The books we've ordered are called "Playaways" are will be so easy to use because each book is its own player - no need to use a CD player or an ipod to listen to the book! We can't wait until they arrive and we can start using them!

I don't have to tell you to be sure and check out our expanded selection of Graphic Novels. There are hardly any of them in the library! You all seem to really enjoy reading this type of book so I hope to keep adding to that section for you.

An Author is Coming to Visit!

Mark your calendars for December 4!  Author Marcie Aboff will be coming to Westbrook School!  You can visit her web site at http://marcieaboff.com/ to read about her. She's written many terrific books, and will also be talking about the writing process.

The following week (the week of December 7) is our PTA sponsored "Holiday Shop and Book Nook."  The Book Nook is like a mini book fair so of course I'm excited to see all the great books the PTA will be bringing us to look through and buy!

Big Week for Kindergarten!

Get ready Kindergarteners! This will be your first week to check out a book!  When you get your first book, I will give you a plastic Library bag to keep your book in.

Please don't throw this bag away.  Keep your library book in it - the bag will protect your book and keep it clean and dry.

When you come back to library the next week, bring your book and your bag.  You can return your library book and get a new one, put it in your bag and you'll be all ready to take it home!

Welcome to Westbrook's Library Media Center!

Hello Westbrook Students! Welcome back to school!
Book checkout will begin the week of September 14. We have tons of new books, keep your eyes peeled for them ... every week I'll be putting more out in display!
Checkout rules:
  • Grades Kindergarten and 1: Students are allowed to check out 1 book.
  • Grades 2-6: Students are allowed to check out 2 books.
  • Students are allowed to check out an additional book as needed for school projects, such as teacher assigned book reports or research projects. Books for these projects are in addition to the 2 "pleasure reading" books they are allowed each week.
  • Remember your library book return day ... you will only be allowed to check out new books if you have returned the ones you checked out before.

Computer Lab:

  • Students in grades 4-6 must have usernames and passwords memorized.
  • Students in grades 1-3 will be able to find their usernames and passwords on index cards on my desk, but if they memorize their usernames and passwords, that's great!
  • Students should leave the lab the way they found it ... chairs pushed in, no papers, pencils, etc. left in the lab.

Remember to visit the Westbrook Web Site for all sorts of important information about our school.

Visit the K-6 Technology Site (Mrs. Oakes and Mrs. Gridley's Technology Site) for all sorts of great links.
